My Last Day in Undergraduate Admissions

Today is a bittersweet work day. It is my last day of work for UCR Undergraduate Admissions, but the beginning of my life in the real world. I recently graduated a few months ago, as most of you read in my graduation post. And I can’t believe 4 years have passed already!

I started working with this office when I was a “baby” freshman. I’ve practically worked here my entire college career and I’ve grown so much as a person working with my colleagues. It has definitely been a great experience working with this university office. When I first started, I used to be such a shy person who would just sit in my cubicle and work on data entry. I slowly started coming out of my shell and went on to become the lead marketing intern.

Being able to gain experience in marketing and clerical skills as well as university events experience has definitely helped me and prepared me for what the future holds. Now that I’m out into the real world I know that good things are ahead. My tip to current and future grads: even though it might get a bit stressful and frustrating after graduating, know that everything will be okay. I know that at one point I was stressed out, but I realized that everything will fall into place soon. Never give up and always reach for your goals. To those that have graduated I wish you all the best of luck and great success in your careers.

If you are in still in school, take advantage of all your resources. Make sure to attend networking events, get help from the Career Center, and become involved in programs that will help you prepare for your future career. Being a part of programs by the Career Center and being able to network has helped me gain some great mentors that have provided me with valuable advice and have been a huge resource for my search in finding a full-time job.

Good luck, my fellow Highlanders! I wish you the best of luck and make sure to enjoy your time at UCR.
